Vernon Gibbs

Vernon Gibbs has more than 20 years of experience in economic data management and analysis.

He has developed and led data operations and procurement teams and spearheaded alternative data initiatives. He has expertise in procurement, equipment acquisition, economic modeling, asset analysis, product development and purchasing strategy.

Vernon sees success as a process rather than an event and enjoys finding value where others might not think to look. He used to love taking things apart to see how they worked, and today uses that same inquisitive nature to leverage client data to get more out of existing assets and resources to maximize revenue.

Prior to joining Larx Advisors, Vernon was responsible for financial planning and analysis for Jones Lumber Co., Inc., the founding entity of Jones Companies, LLC.  He led the team responsible for procuring over a half million tons of timber to feed the mills annually. He also was responsible for strategic heavy equipment acquisition, performing economic modeling, asset analysis, and purchasing strategies.

Before Jones Companies, Vernon was a Senior Product Manager at FactSet Research Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for macroeconomic data products on the workstation. He developed and led global teams consisting of product managers, analysts, and database developers.

Previously, Vernon was responsible for developing new products at IHS Global Insight for the financial markets. He redesigned the workflow and served as product manager for DataInsight, the flagship economic data search and analysis software. DataInsight became the leading workflow application for economists and was imitated by the other major economic data providers.  At Merrill Lynch, Vernon performed emerging markets macroeconomic research on high frequency indicator forecasts and contributed to the weekly publication.  He led the effort to centralize forecasts in the global economics group resulting in a website which ultimately fed the MLX client facing application with a consistent forecast across the macro teams.
